The COVID-19 pandemic has had a great impact on social, economic and financial aspects on an international scale.

For the cover story of the latest issue of Gold News magazine, major investors were interviewed on how they are coping with the switch to remote working, online meetings, continuity of business operations, new measures taken, technological infrastructure and where they stand at the current stage.

Limassol, April 2nd 2020: Glexport, one of the leading investment firms on the island, announced that the Company has donated 20,000 euros to the “Butterfly Foundation” in Cyprus for the purchase of medical equipment to help combat the Corona Virus.

Thanks to the initiative of Glexport and other companies, a total amount of 300,000 euros has been successfully raised to purchase medical ventilators – a key device in the fight against the deadly virus. Moreover, the Foundation has invested in the purchase of a significant amount of medical gowns for front-line health care professionals who are working relentlessly to provide medical assistance to the public.

Johny Abuaitah, CEO of Glexport Group, stated “Each and every one of us could be affected by the Corona virus. It is our social responsibility and duty to participate in the fight against the COVID-19. For this reason, we have decided to invest in this important cause, hoping that our helping hand will also encourage those who are fighting to take care of our citizens not to give up the struggle and to stay safe”.

The 10 medical ventilators are approved by the Government and the State Health Services Organization and will be delivered by the end of April 2020 to medical facilities for immediate use.

We are delighted to announce our sponsorship with Orion, a group of 6 passionate students participating in the ‘F1 in Schools’ international competition. F1 in Schools is the largest STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) competition in the world, involving over 20 million students worldwide. This competition is an opportunity for many students to learn crucial skills and personal qualities that are required to pursue a career in the STEM industry. Teams coming from around the world are challenged to design and construct a miniature F1 car as well as create and market a team brand. ‘F1 in Schools World Finals’ this year will take place from the 24th to the 27th of November on Yas Island, in Abu Dhabi.

Commenting on this latest CSR initiative, Marketing Director of Glexport stated: “Orion is an excellent team of dynamic young students from Cyprus, thriving to become the Formula 1 engineers, marketeers and team managers of the future. We are extremely proud to be sponsoring them for such a critical event that is the beginning for thousands of students’ future careers.

For the second time this year, Glexport will participate at the Jordan Forex Expo! This Expo reunites industry experts and traders to discuss growing opportunities and important topics of the Forex industry. Join us on the 17th and 18th of September 2019, during which our team will be present to demonstrate our services and products, as well as meeting with new clients. The event will take place at the Mövenpick Hotel, booth number 24 in Amman, Jordan!

Head of Marketing quoted: “Jordan has become a financial hub for the whole region, in fact, we have recently opened an office in Amman. The opening of our new Jordan office will give Glexport a more direct interaction with the Jordanian clients. Participating in the Jordan Forex Expo for the second time in a year is proof of our Company’s commitment towards the reinforcement of our presence in Jordan and we are always delighted to go back and meet new and old clients.”

Sunday the 9th of June 2019 marked the 6th Dragon Boat challenge. This being Glexport’ second time participating, the team was able to come together to support the association of the Dragon Boat Challenge that represents Cyprus as a country. Cyprus has been the founding roots of Glexport since our establishment back in 1988. With easy access to Europe and the Middle East, it has been a country full of opportunities and possibilities! We believe that Cyprus has a strong and promising future ahead and we will continue to do our part for the benefit of this country.

Glexport CEO speaks at the Best Invest Congress

The 5th Best Invest Congress took place on the 13th of May 2019 at the St. Raphael Resort in Limassol. One of the guest speakers for this event was Glexport CEO, Johny Abuaitah who was accompanied by fellow entrepreneurs, investors and experts to discuss the economic potential that Cyprus has to offer.

During the conference, Johny Abuaitah, Glexport CEO stated: “30 years ago, Cyprus was one of the countries to welcome our Company, understand our ambition and understand our requirements. I have seen Cyprus developing from a small town to what it is today, especially Limassol. I would say that the best quality of Cyprus is the family lifestyle I am able to maintain. Practically every day, I am able to leave the office for lunch and meet with my family within exactly seven minutes, where else would I be able to do this?”

Over the years, Cyprus has become an international business center offering many benefits, such as advantageous and EU-compliant tax & regulatory framework, good access to various markets and an excellent quality of life!

Glexport’ Corporate Social Responsibility campaign extends once again, and this time, with a donation to the Mesa Yitonia Municipality.

On the 24th of February, Mrs. Rima Abuaitah, the wife of Glexport CEO Mr. Johny Abuaitah, attended the Tea Event at the Ajax Hotel in Limassol as a representative of our Company to present a donation to the Community Volunteer Council of Mesa Yitonia, Limassol. This donation will provide financial aid to ensure the improvement of this town’s infrastructure.

During the event, Mrs Abuaitah stated:  “Glexport’ started as a family business, and in time, the values that we share as a family have become a part of the Company’s DNA. In fact, since the establishment of Glexport back in 1988, the Company has consistently given back to society by coordinating a number of CSR activities, both locally and internationally. Having Glexport’ headquarters based in Mesa Yitonia, we feel a huge responsibility towards the future of this town, and with that in mind, it is my pleasure to represent Glexport and make a positive contribution to the Community Volunteer Council of Mesa Yitonia”
